“The dismissal of a head coach is always a wake-up call for everyone” – Avangard player Boucher about the defeat of Sochi
Avangard forward Reed Boucher linked the defeat of Sochi to the reaction of the Omsk team to the dismissal of head coach Sergei Zvyagin.
On Tuesday, Avangard announced Zvyagin’s departure. The team will soon be led by Canadian Guy Boucher. On Wednesday, Avangard defeated Sochi with a score of 6:0 in a home match of the FONBET KHL Championship.
— In terms of desire and energy, the match between Avangard and Sochi was sharply different from previous games. So did the changes in the coaching staff have an impact?
— The dismissal of a head coach is always a wake-up call for everyone. Probably everyone realized that they needed to make more efforts, they were able to take a step forward and tried their best.
— How do you feel about the fact that there are a lot of changes in Avangard during the season? Does this affect the mood, atmosphere?
— The mood right now, after the victory, is definitely better. But here everyone tries to do their job as well as possible. If you play well, then the risk of being separated from you is significantly reduced,” Boucher told the Championship.
As Match TV reported, the new Avangard coaches – Boucher and his assistant David Barr – can fly to Russia as early as December 12.
Omsk with 30 points occupy ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
