FHU President: “Ukrainian teams can go to foreign championships”
President of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation Heorhiy Zubko is not yet ready to say whether the new season of the Ukrainian championship will start and in what format it will take place.
– Do you have any idea what the next season will be for Ukrainian club hockey in wartime conditions?
– We have several options, but the final decision will depend on the military-political situation in the country … Today we are meeting with the owners of various teams, who talked about their readiness to participate in the event of the end of hostilities. country and security. We probably can’t talk about 10-12 participants of the Ukrainian championship as we planned today, but I think 4-6 teams can start. In parallel, we are working on many different models of co-financing hockey teams to alleviate their financial burden in case the next Ukrainian championship starts.
– The 75th day of the war in Ukraine continues, the airstrike almost does not stop, the Reichists have launched more than 2,000 rockets on our territory and continue to destroy critical and civilian infrastructure. If the war never ends, what is the way out of the situation?
– We will help Ukrainian teams play in European championships. We have already received many invitations from some leagues to our clubs. I can say that we did not consider the option of participating in one of the European championships of the Ukrainian national team. Club hockey should remain club hockey. We will try to help within the possibilities of FHU.
