Nikitin, GRU and Kozlov apply for the award to the best coach of the season in the KHL
The continental hockey league (KHL) determined the nominees for the prize to the best coach of the end of the season of the KHL championship.
As reported on the League’s official website, Benois GRU (Tractor), Victor Kozlov (Salavat Yulaev) and Igor Nikitin (Lokomotiv) apply for this award.
The GRU led to the Tractor to the second Gagarin Cup final in his first season in the club. The Chelyabinsk team in five matches lost to Lokomotiv. Tractor also won first place in the Eastern Conference following a regular championship.
Under Kozlov, Salavat Yulaev became the second in the eastern conference, and then for the first time in six years he was able to get in the four best in the playoffs.
Lokomotiv for the first time in history won the Gagarin Cup, and also became the winner of the opening Cup at the beginning of the season and won the Viktor Tikhonov Cup, becoming the best team of regular championship.
Earlier, Oleg Znarok (four times), Zinetula Bilyaletdinov and Sergey Fedorov (both twice), as well as Milos Rzhiga, Mike Kinen, Vyacheslav Bykov, Dmitry Kvartalnov, Bob Hartley and Andrei Razin won the award to the best coach.
