“Victory over the“ Vanguard ”in the overtime of the seventh match greatly helped Lokomotiv in the future – Simashev
Defender of Lokomotiv Dmitry Simashev spoke about the turning point in the Gagarin Cup for the Yaroslavl Club.
“Lokomotiv” for the first time in its history became the owner of the Gagarin Cup, defeating the Chelyabinsk “Tractor” in the final (4–1 in the series). In the second round, Lokomotiv was held by Avangard, defeating the series in the second overtime in the seventh match.
– The series with Omsk was heavy. Seventh match. Unfortunately or fortunately, I did not play a lot – I went to two shifts. But I looked from the shop. And when you win such a match in overtime, then you go out with a different sensation. You seemed to go through something big. The pressure there is colossal. You can’t get used to it. You just have to accept that it is and use it. The pressure should keep you in good shape, force you to do the right actions. We won that match – it was very important. I think this helped us a lot in the future. As Igor Valerievich said [Никитин]it was another step in our growing up as a team, ”Simashev said“ All -Sport ”.
Earlier, Lokomotiv became the champion of Russia in 1997 three times (under the name “Torpedo”), 2002 and 2003.
