Edmonton beat Dallas in the fifth match of the series and will now play against Florida in the Stanley Cup final.
In the second year in a row, “Edmonton” made his way to the final of the Stanley Cup! For five matches, Oylez dealt with the formidable Dallas, not allowing the opponent to even believe in the positive outcome of the series.
Now the club of the strongest hockey player Planet will try to avenge Sergey Bobrovsky and his Florida.
“Edmonton” dominates in the final of the West
Dallas confidently began the final series of the Western Conference, having mined a strong -willed victory over Edmonton (6: 3). However, then the Oilers took three games in a row and stopped a step away from the exit to the main stage of the Stanley Cup. At the same time, the Canadian club dominated every meeting: for this segment, the team of Chris Noblach abandoned 13 goals, and missed only two.
The leaders “Stars” sharply went into the shadows. The Finnish striker Mikko Rananen, who enchanted in the previous two rounds, especially disappointed. For four games against Edmonton, he has only “0+2”. Yes, and goalkeeper Jake Oinger unexpectedly began to lose the duel of Stuart Skinner out of clean.
However, before the fifth match, Edmonton had problems. The club said that the Canadian striker Zak Haymen underwent surgery and this season would not be left more on the ice, and Jeff Skinner took his place. But then the Swedish defender Matthias Ekholm also returned to the composition.
“Dallas” fought to the last
Already in the first period of the visiting meeting, Edmonton decided to make a serious application for victory in the match and in the series. At first, the Oilers realized the majority in the third minute: Connor McDavid strongly shot along the gate, and Caria Perry with one touch he sent the puck into the net – 1: 0.
After a few shifts, the guests differed in equal compositions. Defender Jake Valman from his zone gave a chic pass to someone else’s blue line to Viktor Arvidsson, and he continued the combination and brought Matthias Yanmark one on one with the goal with the goalkeeper. Yanmark dealt without problems with Oinger, throwing the goalkeeper between the shields.
Immediately after the missed goal, Peter Debur replaced the goalkeeper on Casey Desmit. However, after only 58 seconds, desmith had to get a puck from the gate. The guests arranged a chaos on the heel of Dallas, but Skinner managed to win the struggle and, charging from close range, increased the advantage of Edmonton – 3: 0.
The intrigue in the match was preserved thanks to Jason Robertson, who, even before the break, reduced the lag to two goals. Robertson took advantage of the unsuccessful exit of the Oilers from the zone and punished the opponent with lightning speed.
And in the second period, Starz completely waved to the Cumbek. In the middle of the game segment, Roope Hintz with a throw into one touch from a slaughter position was realized by the majority. But after a few shifts, Edmonton cooled the ardor of the opponent a little. Hockey players “Dallas” began to play in the attack and allowed McDavid to run one on one with the goalkeeper, and the captain of the Canadian club does not forgive such mistakes – 4: 2.
And yet the owners were not going to give up. 38 seconds after the start of the third period, Robertson scored a double, throwing from under the defender. Only the stars believed in a miracle, as after three minutes Evander Kane scored a curious goal. The striker tried to give a program from behind the gate, but he got into the horse defender Dallas, from which the puck bounced into the grid-5: 3.
And if the ridiculous goal did not morally nailed the owners, then 11 seconds before the siren Kasper Kapanen struck the empty gate and set the final score – 6: 3. In the second year in a row, “Edmonton” goes to the main stage of the Stanley Cup! And again, “Oilers” will meet with Florida. We are waiting for a remake of last year’s final, in which the Canadian club will try to take revenge for a painful defeat in the seventh match of the series.
