Roman Rotenberg can become the head coach and functionary “Vityaza” – source

As it became known to “Match TV”, Roman Rotenberg can take the post of head coach and one of the functionaries of the Vityaz hockey club near Moscow.

Earlier on Monday, Match TV reported that, by decision of the new board of directors, SKA Rotenberg leaves the post of head coach of the team.

– Roman stoically perceives this news (about leaving SKA). But he is not going to end his career in the KHL. The main contender for him today is the “Vityaz”. Moreover, Rotenberg will again occupy the post of not only the head coach, but also one of the club functionaries under which the players come.

The “Vityaz” would like to not only steadily get into the playoffs, but also to collect his fan base. This is one of the KHL lagging clubs in attendance. Rotenberg could resolve these issues, ”a source close to the situation told Match TV.

Vityaz spent all 17 seasons in the KHL, but only hit the playoffs four times, managing to win only one cup match: 0–4 with SKA (2017, 2020), 0–4 with CSKA (2019), as well as 1–4 with Lokomotiv (2023).

Last season, Vityaz became the tenth in the Western Conference, scoring 59 points in 68 matches. The club is based in Balashikha.
