Larionov – about the appointment in SKA: “I am proud that I was given the opportunity to get into a large club with great ambitions”

Igor Larionov said that he was proud to become the head coach of the St. Petersburg hockey club SKA.

On Monday, SKA said that the Club Board of Directors decided to early terminate the contract with head coach Roman Rotenberg and the appointment of Larionov to this position.

– It is very unusual to be the head coach of SKA. I am proud that I was given the opportunity to get into a large club with large ambitions. Glad to be in the city.

– So quickly the issue is not resolved. I saw the composition, game time, players’ contracts. He had already held a number of conversations with people who are inside the organization. Larionov’s last place of work was Torpedo (2022–2025). Under his leadership, the Nizhny Novgorod team showed the best result in the history of the club, in the season -2022/23 reaching the ¼ finals of the Gagarin Cup.
