The former head coach of Lokomotiv Igor Nikitin turned to the fans of the Yaroslavl hockey team.
On Wednesday, Nikitin left the post of head coach of Lokomotiv, terminating the contract, designed until 2027. Earlier, Match TV became known that Nikitin will lead the Moscow CSKA.

The decision that I made is based either on financial moments or on any conflicts. I came to him for one reason – I gave all the forces, emotions, and knowledge to the guys everything that could, all his strength, emotions. They became self -sufficient, confident people and hockey players who took everything that was played out last season. I am proud of who they became, but their potential is not fully disclosed.
I need a new motivation, new energy. All again. I am such a person. Therefore, I do not make excuses, but explain. I hope you understand. In conclusion, I want to apologize to the President of Lokomotiv Yuri Nikolayevich Yakovlev. And the words of gratitude. This is a person who did a lot to win and what is happening in the club. “Lokomotiv” – champion! ” – said Nikitin in the circulation, which was published in the Telegram channel of the fans of the Yaroslavl team “50 shades of armored train”.
Nikitin is 52 years old, he headed Lokomotiv in September 2021. In the 2024/25 season, the Yaroslavl won the Gagarin Cup, defeating the Chelyabinsk “Tractor” in the final (4–1). Nikitin himself received the prize to the best coach of the season.

OFFICIALLY. The club suspended participation in the Ukrainian Championship
Storm hockey club announced its decision to suspend participation in the Ukrainian Championship. The Odessa team had not come to the Krizhinka match before.
At the same time, Storm denied that the issue was related to financial problems and expressed distrust of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation.

“Due to systematic violation of the principles of equality and justice in competitions, Shtor hockey club expressed its distrust in the leadership of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation and decided to suspend its participation in the Ukrainian Championship.”
There was already a situation this season when Krizhinka suspended its participation in the championship due to referee problems.

NHL. Buffalo surprises, wins from Florida, Edmonton and San Jose
At the end of game day of the NHL regular season, Carolina defeated the New York Rangers to become the sole leader in the East and sit two points ahead of Detroit with 7 wins in 10 games.

Junior World Hockey Championship. Great comeback from the USA, 9 goals and hat-trick from Canada
Another day of play in the elite league of the World Junior Hockey Championship has ended.
The USA team beat Slovakia with a score of 6:5, with big problems. The host team of the tournament lost 0:2 and 1:3 but managed to come back and win.
Forward Tomas Hrenko scored a double for the Slovaks, scoring three goals in the last match. And the Americans have a double thank you to James Hagens.
USA and Sweden are leaders in the group with 9 points.
In the other group, Canada beat Denmark 9-1, while forward Gavin McKenna is expected to score a hat-trick and become number 1 in the 2026 draft.
In another match, the Czech Republic defeated Finland 2:1 in overtime.
