The NHL officially included the Russian Shesterkin in the top three contenders for the prize of the best goaltender of the regular season
The National Hockey League (NHL) has included the Russian New York Rangers Igor Shesterkin among the contenders for the Vezina Trophy prize, awarded to the best goaltender following the results of the regular season.
Nashville goalie Juuse Saros and Calgary’s Jakob Markstrom are also up for the award.
Shesterkin made 53 appearances for the Rangers last season, scoring 36 wins and keeping clean six times. The Russian averaged 93.5% of shots with a safety factor of 2.22.
Saros played 67 games for Nashville, saving 91.8% of shots with a safety factor of 2.64. In 63 games for the Flames, Markstrom had a 92.2% save percentage and an average of 2.22 goals per game.
