Sochi hockey club officially announced the appointment of Vladimir Krikunov for the post of head coach.
In July, Vyacheslav Kozlov, who headed Sochi in early June, left the post of head coach of the team. Later, Match TV reported that Krikunov would be appointed to this post.
Krikunov assistants will be Andrei Mironov, Anton Bukhanko, Evgeny Shaldybin, Maxim Rybin, the senior coach is Dmitry Mikhailov. Andrei Tsarev was appointed to the position of goalkeeper coach.
Krikunov 75 years old, the last club of the coach was Dynamo from St. Petersburg, in which he worked in 2023–2024. Previously, he also trained the Moscow Dynamo, Ak Bars, the national teams of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Last season, Sochi took 11th place in the Western Conference, gaining 47 points in 68 matches, and did not go to the playoffs. The last time the club played in the KHL playoffs in the 2018/19 season, when in the first round he lost to Lokomotiv (2–4 in the series).
