General Director of Sochi Igor Grigorenko was disqualified by IIHF for four years.

The current off -season in the KHL is rich in loud scandals. It does not allow the fans and HC Sochi, which periodically surprises extraordinary solutions. For example, the club first fired the head coach Vyacheslav Kozlov and his assistant Alexander Savchenkov. And then the Leopards unexpectedly headed 75-year-old Vladimir Krikunov.

And when it seemed that Sochi would calmly prepare for the upcoming season, a new scandal broke out – the CEO of the club Igor Grigorenko was disqualified for violation of anti -doping rules!

Positive sampling of a ten -year ago

The holder of the Gagarin 2011 Cup as part of Salavat Yulaev Igor Grigorenko was appointed Director General of Sochi on June 1. Under him, the head coach Vyacheslav Kozlov, who worked in the club for a month and a half, left him.

Apparently, Grigorenko did not suit the coaching staff, which was employed in the new leadership. On July 19, contracts were terminated, and Kozlov and Savchenkov received compensation. At the same time, experts lost their jobs almost two weeks before the team was leaving for the training camp, not having time to spend at least one match.

In less than two months, as the General Director of Sochi himself may lose work. Thus, the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) decided to remove Grigorenko from any activity related to professional sports for four years for doping! And the term is counted from August 12, 2025.

The positive sampling of the former hockey player was in the database of the Moscow Anti -Doping Laboratory (LIMS), containing the results of the audit for the period from 2012 to 2015. It is important to note that the prohibited substance is not called. According to the Soviet Sports, the Russian Federation of the Russian Federation (FHR) was notified by Grigorenko in March, and soon he left the post of adviser to the General Director of Lada for Development.

– Today there is a decision of the IIHF, which Igor is found guilty of violating anti -doping rules in 2015. That is, we are talking about the events of a ten -year ago. The only proof of IIHF is the information in the Lims database. We consider this IIHF decision unlawful and plan to appeal it to CAS.

Grigorenko showed his whole career as an honest, disciplined and devoted player. He plans to continue the struggle in the legal field to restore his honest name, and we will make every effort to help him in this difficult situation, ”said lawyer Igor Grigorenko Yuri Zaitsev in an interview with Match TV.

The final solution depends on the KHL

It seemed that Grigorenko should not have problems at all. Firstly, back in 2018, he ended his player’s career, and banning the functionary is pointless. Secondly, the KHL is officially independent of the FCH, and therefore does not report to the IIHF. For this reason, no one began to comply with the decision of the International Federation on the disqualification of goalkeeper Ivan Fedotov.

Yes, and in the NHL they ignore the office of Luke Tardif. It is enough to recall the story with Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was banned from playing for the Russian team, while he was not removed from the Washington.

It seems to be on IIHF, which is in no hurry to return our team to its tournaments, it will be possible to officially give a damn. However, experts suggest that due to our country of the WADA World Anti-Doping Code, the KHL will be obliged to execute the decisions of anti-doping organizations. Such an outcome of events can really be assumed, given the story with another former hockey player Konstantin Panov.

On the basis of the same data from the Lims database, Panov was disqualified for five years in 2021, because of which he had to leave the post of head coach of “white bears”-the youth of the “tractor”.

– Unfortunately, the decision of the Rusad on the disqualification of Panov, and the subsequent deviation of the appeal, does not give him options to continue working in the coaching headquarters of the youth team. There is still a lot of disabilities in this case, so on the part of the club we consider this decision to be controversial and at the first opportunity Konstantin Panov will definitely get the opportunity to return to work in the Tractor system, ”the general director of Tractor, Ivan Savin, commented on the situation.

The KHL is still in no hurry with the decision, but for now they are only preparing a statement.

– Rusada informed the KHL about the disqualification of Igor Grigorenko for violating anti -doping rules during a sports career. The KHL will give a legal assessment of the situation in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation. Later, the League will make an official statement, ”the KHL press service“ Match TV ”said.

Everything goes to the fact that Grigorenko will lose his job. Interestingly, the former vice president of Magnitogorsk Metallurg, Gennady Velichkin, has already stated that he was ready to become the general director of Sochi.
