Malkin broke Ovechkin’s record for most points at the start of an NHL season in the 21st century for players over 39 years of age
Russian forward of Pittsburgh Evgeni Malkin set a 21st century NHL record for the most points scored in the first ten games of a season among players over 39 years of age.
In the NHL regular season match against St. Louis (6:3), Malkin scored a goal and gave an assist. In ten games he scored 16 points (3+13).
Malkin surpassed the achievement of Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin, who scored 13 points (6+7) in the first ten games of the 2024/25 season.
The all-time record belongs to Gordie Howe. In the 1968/69 season with Detroit, he scored 17 points (6 goals + 11 assists).
