CSKA President Igor Esmantovich at a press conference announced the reasons that prompted him to call ex-army Alexander Radulov a traitor.
Earlier, Esmantovich said that Radulov betrayed CSKA, cheated on the club.
– Could you clarify your harsh words about Alexander Radulov? Why did you call him a traitor?
Do you know what happens in a divorce court? One side is fighting, the other is fighting. The truth is somewhere in the middle. If Alexander were here, he would have told it himself. I wouldn’t want to discuss it without him. But I’ll tell you how it really happened.
If Sanya has enough wisdom, he will tell. A certain situation has arisen. We had a five-year contract with Alexander Radulov, which he agreed. He has already agreed to sign a contract that will stay with CSKA for many years. But over the course of two or three months, while the championship and playoffs were going on, everything changed.
Radulov found a way out, did not sign this contract. And just went to North America. Since he did so, we decided not to return to him. Radulov now lives in America, and he probably likes it there.
Esmantovich also commented on the rumors about large payments to CSKA players for winning the Gagarin Cup.
– Is it true that every CSKA player will receive crazy bonuses for winning the Gagarin Cup?
– The figures that were voiced in the press are complete nonsense. When a team is in the playoffs at the highest level, everyone wants to hurt them. I hope these villains will be found, and they will suffer the punishment they deserve.
In general, we have to wait for the Supervisory Board of CSKA, where they will make a decision. Wait another two or three weeks.
Radulov played in CSKA from 2012 to 2016, after which he moved to Montreal. CSKA defeated Metallurg (4-3) in the final series of the 2021/22 season in the KHL.

Coach of the Ukrainian national team: “Fans want to see us in the elite team. You still need experience”
Dmitry Khristich, the coach of the Ukraine national hockey team, made a 2025 prediction for the team. The main event was the World Championship in Division 1A, where the team only lost their chance to reach the elite league in the last match.
“I think the year has been positive. We won most of our matches. I also rate our performance in the World Championship positively. Many people probably wanted us to get into the elite league immediately, but I believe that we need to gain experience and confidence at this level. You have to believe in yourself and build on your experience by getting positive results against D1A teams and promotion teams that constantly jump from league to league.”
“We need to learn to play the full 60 minutes, to play against any opponent, to be tactically flexible… All these and many other nuances still need to be worked out,” Khristic said.
