Ovechkin moved up to 21st place among NHL players in games played

Russian forward of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin took part in the 1524th game of his NHL career, the league’s press service reports.

On Tuesday, Ovechkin entered the regular season away match against the Minnesota Wild.

Now the Russian shares with Brendan Shanahan 21st place in the history of the league in matches played in the regular season. To enter the top 20, 40-year-old Ovechkin needs to surpass Ryan Suter’s result (1526). The record belongs to Patrick Marlowe (1779).

Including the playoffs, Ovechkin played 1,685 games and ranks 18th in NHL history for this indicator. Record holder – Mark Messier (1991).
