Junior World Hockey Championship. Calendar and match results
Traditionally, one of the most interesting hockey tournaments of the year begins – the U-20 World Junior Championship in the elite league. The tournament will take place in the USA from December 26 to January 5.
The American team will defend the title it won in Canada a year ago. However, Maple will try to heal herself after the failure.
The teams are divided into two groups of 5 teams, the top 4 will advance to the play-offs and the last two will compete for survival among the elite.
Group A: USA, Sweden, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany

NHL. Triumphs of Tampa Bay and Philadelphia, failures of Anaheim and Los Angeles
Tampa Bay continues to battle for the lead in the NHL’s Atlantic Division. Today Lightning, St. They beat St. Louis on the ice with a score of 4:1, with tall forward Darren Reddish scoring a goal and two assists.
Tampa sits second in the league, two points behind Detroit with one game remaining.
Philadelphia is doing well, beating Vancouver 5:2 to move into second place in the Metropolitan Division. True, competition in the league is tight and the second place is separated from the penultimate by a few points.
In the West, Seattle held off first-place Anaheim in the Pacific Division.

NHL. Crosby’s record, victories for Detroit, Edmonton and Colorado
The main event of the game day in the NHL was the record of Sidney Crosby, who scored two points in the match against Montreal and became the top scorer in the club’s history, passing the legendary Mario Lemieux.
Crosby currently has 1,724 points and sits 8th on the league’s all-time scoring list.
Among other results, we note Detroit’s victory over Washington. Wings, who won 7 of the last 10 matches, took second place in the Eastern Conference.
Already ranked second from last in the East, Toronto’s problems continue.
In the West, Edmonton beat Vegas and Colorado was stronger than Minnesota.

NHL. Washington and Edmonton’s victories, Pittsburgh and Toronto’s troubles
While Carolina took the lead in the NHL Eastern Conference, Washington rose to second place by beating Toronto with a score of 4:0 today.
Defender Chikrin scored a double and goalkeeper Thompson made 22 saves to keep a clean sheet for the second time in four matches. The Capitals trail the Hurricanes by four points.
However, Toronto is still second to last in its division.
Young defenseman Hutsona’s three assists helped Montreal beat Chicago, which has lost four straight games without the injured Connor Bedard and is second-to-last in the standings.
Pittsburgh has problems. Although Sidney Crosby was two points away from becoming the most successful player in Penguin history, the team lost to Ottawa and finished second from last in the league with seven straight losses.
In the West, Colorado’s leader has two followers at a time.
Dallas beat San Jose and took second place with a difference of 4 points, while Minnesota beat Columbus and took place in the top 3 with six consecutive wins.
Edmonton’s situation is improving. The Oilers beat Boston with Connor McDavid’s short-handed goal and moved into the top 3 in the league with 7 wins in 10 games.
McDavid caught up with leader Nathan MacKinnon in the top scorer race with 58 points.
