The biggest NHL trade of the season is Edmonton’s new goaltender
Two major trades have taken place in the NHL in the past few days; One of them can perhaps be called the greatest of recent seasons.
Vancouver decided to rebuild its roster and traded its captain and one of the League’s best defensemen, Quinn Hughes, to Minnesota.
In return, the Canucks received a 2026 first-round draft pick, defenseman Zeev Buim and forwards Marco Rossi and Liam Ogren.
Hughes was named the NHL’s Defensive Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season as one of the best offensive defensemen in the league. Quinn scored 433 points in 460 NHL games.
Vancouver is last in the West and is starting to rebuild; Minnesota is among the leaders and wants to compete for the Stanley Cup.
Edmonton and Pittsburgh made another trade.
Trying to solve the goaltending problem, the Oilers traded goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Penguins and gave him goaltender Stuart Skinner in return.
Edmonton, which has lost two straight Stanley Cup finals, is looking for ways to improve its goaltending situation.
