Carolina defeated Philadelphia 3:2 in a penalty shootout in NHL regular season play and leads the East with 7 wins in its last 10 games.

And Hurricanes goaltender Brandon Bussey won his ninth straight game.

Montreal beat Edmonton 4:1 on home ice and not only upset its opponent, but also prevented forward Leon Draisaitl from reaching 1,000 points in the NHL.
