Razin on Kuznetsov’s first goal for Metallurg: “I hope the pause helped him”
Metallurg head coach Andrei Razin, after the Fonbet KHL Championship match with Sochi, commented on striker Evgeny Kuznetsov’s first goal for the team, noting that the pause for national team matches should have benefited the player.
The meeting in Sochi ended with a score of 6:1 in favor of the guests. Kuznetsov scored his debut goal for the Magnitogorsk club. The Stanley Cup winner and two-time world champion signed a contract with Metallurg in October, before the match with Sochi he last played for the club at the end of November.
— How did you manage to maintain concentration throughout the match, since everything was practically decided in the first period?
“We told the guys that we have a very important game in a day, a derby. Therefore, in order not to spoil this game, we played the remaining two periods very concentrated.
— There was a pause in the championship, was it beneficial?
— We did a good job, we carried out a shock cycle. There were fears that the guys would be under stress today… But the legs ran.
— How would you rate Evgeniy Kuznetsov’s performance? Did this microcycle help him physically?
– I hope so.
— Does it really matter that they didn’t score a clean sheet?
– Why? Important, of course. In the end the young guy made a mistake. But I think he will remember this, and he won’t make such mistakes again,” the Match TV correspondent reports Razin’s words.
Metallurg leads the Eastern Conference standings with 55 points.
