Hockey player SKA Blandisi: “Larionov stays away from the guys, he doesn’t want anyone to get sick”
Canadian SKA forward Joseph Blandisi said that the head coach of the St. Petersburg club, Igor Larionov, distanced himself from the team so as not to infect the hockey players.
Larionov missed the matches with the Chinese Shanghai Dragons (4:1) on December 16 and with the Kazan Ak Bars (3:2) on December 18 due to health reasons. His functions were performed by Yuri Babenko.
— Did you find out information about Larionov? When will he return?
“We send him messages, and he gets in touch by phone from time to time. But he’s staying away from guys right now because he doesn’t want anyone to get sick. And like I said, we’re trying to do everything we can to win without him. We’re doing a great job with our coaches, but we want him back. Apparently there is no specific date for his return. But I guess it will be soon, because he is a strong, healthy person,” Blandisi was quoted as saying by “Sport Day by Day.”
SKA is sixth in the Western Conference table with 43 points. In the next match, the St. Petersburg club will host Moscow Spartak on December 20.
