Russian forward of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin rose to 20th place in history in terms of the number of career matches played in the National Hockey League.
The NHL regular season game against Detroit was his 1,526th career.
Ovechkin caught up with former Nashville and Minnesota defenseman Ryan Suter and shares 20th place with him on the list for this indicator.
The league record holder is ex-San Jose forward Patrick Marleau, who played 1,779 games during his career.
