The Tampa Bay Lightning hockey players beat the Carolina Hurricanes in a home match of the NHL regular season.

The meeting in Tampa ended with a score of 6:4. For the Lightning, Jake Guentzel scored twice, and Gage Goncalves, Brayden Point, Jack Finley and Ryan McDonagh scored once each. Eric Robinson, Jackson Blake, Bradley Nadeau and Andrei Svechnikov scored for Carolina.

Tampa managed to come back from a 0:3 score.

Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov returned to the ice after an illness that forced him to miss one match. Kucherov made an assist. He has 43 (13+30) points. He remains the top scorer of the current season among the Russians.

Andrei Svechnikov broke his 13-match goalless streak. He has 23 (8+14) points.

The goals of both teams were defended by Russian goalkeepers. Tampa’s Andrei Vasilevsky stopped 18 shots (81.9%), and Carolina’s Petr Kochetkov stopped 23 shots (82.1%).

Tampa broke a three-game losing streak, scored 41 points and moved up to seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Carolina (47) retained its leadership in the East.

In another match of the day, Florida lost at home to St. Louis with a score of 2:6. Russian striker of St. Louis Pavel Buchnevich gave two assists.

OFFICIALLY. The club suspended participation in the Ukrainian Championship

Storm hockey club announced its decision to suspend participation in the Ukrainian Championship. The Odessa team had not come to the Krizhinka match before.

At the same time, Storm denied that the issue was related to financial problems and expressed distrust of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation.

Statement from HC Storm

“Due to systematic violation of the principles of equality and justice in competitions, Shtor hockey club expressed its distrust in the leadership of the Ukrainian Hockey Federation and decided to suspend its participation in the Ukrainian Championship.”

There was already a situation this season when Krizhinka suspended its participation in the championship due to referee problems.

At the end of game day of the NHL regular season, Carolina defeated the New York Rangers to become the sole leader in the East and sit two points ahead of Detroit with 7 wins in 10 games.

Among other results, we also note Buffalo’s improbable 9 straight wins. Blades, St. It defeated St. Louis and snapped such a long winning streak for the first time since 2018. There are only two points in the top 3 of the league.

Florida won an important victory. The champions were stronger than Washington and were slowly rising to the top of the Atlantic Division.

Junior World Hockey Championship. Great comeback from the USA, 9 goals and hat-trick from Canada

Another day of play in the elite league of the World Junior Hockey Championship has ended.

The USA team beat Slovakia with a score of 6:5, with big problems. The host team of the tournament lost 0:2 and 1:3 but managed to come back and win.

Forward Tomas Hrenko scored a double for the Slovaks, scoring three goals in the last match. And the Americans have a double thank you to James Hagens.

USA and Sweden are leaders in the group with 9 points.

In the other group, Canada beat Denmark 9-1, while forward Gavin McKenna is expected to score a hat-trick and become number 1 in the 2026 draft.

In another match, the Czech Republic defeated Finland 2:1 in overtime.
