The Pittsburgh Penguins have not won a regular NHL game since losing Russian forward Evgeni Malkin to an upper-body injury.

Malkin was out of action after the winning game with Tampa (4:3), which took place on December 4. From that point on, Pittsburgh lost eight games in a row, and the Penguins did not score a single goal in their last two meetings. On Saturday, the Penguins lost to Montreal on the road with a score of 0:4.

On December 18, Malkin held his first training session on the ice after the injury. The timing of his return to duty has not been published.

Pittsburgh will host Montreal on Sunday.
