The other day, CSKA held a press conference on the results of the season. The head of the army team, Igor Esmantovich, and head coach Sergei Fedorov mainly talked about their plans to complete the team for next year. The Moscow club has a great desire to bring back Russian players from North America. During the communication, Esmantovich announced that he was following a group of hockey players. We tell you who CSKA has the rights to and which of the voiced actors can return. It is worth emphasizing right away that it will be difficult for the club to invite two people from this list at once – there may not be enough money due to the strict salary cap.

Denis Guryanov, Dallas

In March, CSKA acquired the rights to the player from Lada in exchange for monetary compensation. It quickly became clear that the army team spent the money for a reason – they hope to invite a hockey player with Dallas, whose contract has expired. Denis’ current season is less successful than the previous two seasons if we take his game. He started getting fewer points, targets were lost and instability returned as he couldn’t get into the Stars for a long time.

Now Guryanov is playing in the playoffs (more precisely, in his last game on the bench), his $2.55 million contract will expire in the summer. The stars should offer him a new deal, albeit not on the best terms. But there will still be money that a hockey player can hardly afford in CSKA. In the KHL at the moment it does not cost 100 million rubles or more, and the tight salary cap will not let the Gagarin Cup winner go crazy. Maybe Denis won’t think about money, but he will want to return to Russia to become the team leader and get a lot of playing time.

Alexander Romanov, Montreal

Esmantovich also mentioned a young defender who left CSKA two years ago. Romanov’s return, however, is unlikely. Montreal will definitely offer Alexander a good contract. Quantities of 4-5 million dollars were mentioned in the North American press (everything will envy the duration of the deal). Also, Bilyaletdinov’s grandson is advancing abroad. The Canadiens are in the process of rebuilding and a promising player has a chance to become a star. There is nothing to suggest that Romanov might consider CSKA.

Maxim Mamin, Florida

It will be strange if the 27-year-old striker decides to return to Russia because he only left last year. Then his departure surprised him – he did not see a completely ready player for the NHL. As a result, Maxim performed as expected. He spent half of the regular season’s games at the base, played a little, rarely scored. That’s right, Mamin ended up in Florida, which had a crazy attacking and strong season, so it was nearly impossible to get into the top 6 from the start.

During the summer, Maxim’s contract expires and he becomes an unlimited free agent in America, meaning he can choose any NHL team. Most likely, he will be able to find a job abroad. The contract will be small, but it will be difficult to earn much more in CSKA.

Ivan Prosvetov, Tucson, Arizona system

Despite the pending contract and the vacant goalkeeper position in CSKA, Ivan will not come.

“You can already say that I have no plans to return to KHL in the coming years. My target is the NHL. I’m from Arizona until I’m 27. I don’t know how long I’ll be signing with him, but I’m waiting. I know my manager is talking to the club. There were also talks with CSKA, but I decided to stay in the NHL.”– Ivan said in an interview with Metaratings.

Prosvetov spent most of the season in the AHL, where his statistics were not very good. There are three games in the NHL for Arizona, but sad numbers (87.5% of shots were recorded). In general, it is not a fact that he will help CSKA. But now Sergei Fedorov can only count on Alexander Sharychenkov (an even more unreliable option) and Adam Reideborn.

Egor Afanasiev, Milwaukee, Nashville system

“We made an offer to Afanasiev. He is very reminiscent of Sergei Fedorov, both in style and in skating. We talked to him on the phone a short time ago, and we are working in this direction.” Esmantovich said at a press conference.

The 21-year-old striker was on loan with CSKA last year. For Milwaukee, Yegor has 74 games and 33 (12+21) points this season. Now Afanasiev plays in the AHL playoffs. His contract with Nashville runs until 2024, but he has yet to make his NHL debut. The question is whether the club wants to leave the player and whether he will give up on his dream of playing in the best league in the world. But in CSKA, Afanasiev will definitely take a more prominent role and a more solid contract.
