Kane’s 500 goals in the NHL, Colorado’s 8 goals, Florida’s problems, McDavid’s streak

Detroit beat Vancouver 5:1 in NHL regular season play as forward Patrick Kane scored a double to reach 500 career goals.

Kane became the fifth American in history to score 500 or more goals.

Detroit is in the top 3 in the East, one point behind leader Carolina and tied on points with Montreal. The Canadians managed to beat Florida 6:2 and Alex Texier scored the first hat trick of his NHL career.

Meanwhile, the Panthers finished second from last in their division.

Among other results, we note Pittsburgh’s sixth straight win and Toronto’s success in overtime of the game against Philadelphia. Maple is in fifth place in the league but is trying to close the gap on the top 3.

In the West, Colorado managed to beat Ottawa 8:2 and Nathan MacKinnon scored 4 points. Avalanche leads the overall standings, 11 points ahead of Dallas.

Edmonton beat foreigner Winnipeg 4:3 and Connor McDavid extended his point streak to 17 games. The forward scored 41 points in this period.
