Ovechkin scored his first goal in 2026 against Anaheim

Russian forward of the Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin scored a goal against the Anaheim Ducks in a home match of the NHL regular season.

Ovechkin scored in the 29th minute, making the score 5:1 in favor of the hosts. The Washington captain broke a goalless streak that spanned four regular-season games. This is Ovechkin’s first goal in 2026.

This is also the Russian’s 913th goal in the NHL regular season (a league record) and the 990th goal including the playoffs.

Wayne Gretzky’s record for goals in an NHL game, including playoff games, is 1,016 goals.
