Avangard defeated Ak Bars and surpassed Kazan in the KHL standings
Omsk Avangard defeated Kazan Ak Bars in an away match of the regular season of the Fonbet KHL Championship.
The meeting ended in victory for the guests with a score of 2:1 (0:0, 0:0, 2:1). Michael MacLeod and Damir Sharipzyanov scored for Avangard, and Vladimir Alistrov scored for Ak Bars.
Avangard scored 59 points and ahead of Ak Bars (58), rising to second place in the Eastern Conference standings.
In the next match, Avangard will play away on January 8 against Metallurg Magnitogorsk, and Ak Bars will host Barys from Astana on the same day.
