Malkin: “I want to play again so much that I’m ready to become a goalkeeper”

Russian forward of the NHL club Pittsburgh Penguins Evgeni Malkin said that he cannot wait to return to matches after injury.

Malkin was out of action after the winning game with Tampa (4:3), which took place on December 4. So far, he has missed 15 regular season games. On Tuesday, 39-year-old Malkin returned to training with the general group.

“I can go into defense and become a goalkeeper if the coach wants me to.” I don’t care. I really want to play, you know? This injury is crazy because I didn’t feel any pain after that game. But the next morning I woke up and found that I couldn’t move my shoulder. Just a nightmare.

It’s always exciting to get back into the game if you miss more than 10 matches. This often takes a toll on your self-confidence. But I feel great. I train every day. My legs are fine. I need to play a couple of shifts and I think everything will be fine. We have a great team. My linemates and teammates support me very much,” the NHL press service quotes Malkin.

This season, Malkin has 29 points (8+21) in 26 games.

Malkin was selected second overall by Pittsburgh in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He spent his entire league career with one club and won the Stanley Cup three times.

Disaster in the hockey palace of the 2026 Olympics. Holes in the building. And in the ice

The situation at the hockey palace in Milan, where the 2026 Olympic Games matches will be played, resonated in various media.

On Friday, the first match took place at the palace, which was a test of the building’s preparation for the 2026 Olympic Games. The Italian Cup match took place, which revealed many problems.

What surprised me most was the extremely poor quality of the ice holes formed in it; This situation posed a danger to the players and did not allow the match to take place normally.

Ice problems are reportedly not that difficult to solve, but there are other challenges as well. The building itself is not yet completed. There are holes where builders do not have time to complete the work.

This means the room temperature is unstable, making ice problems difficult to resolve. But the organizers promise to sort everything out before the tournament starts.

The Olympic hockey tournament begins on February 5 with women’s team play.
