Ovechkin moved into clear second place in the NHL in 20-goal seasons.

Washington’s Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin became the second player in NHL history to score 20 goals in his 21st season.

The puck in the match against Nashville (2:3) was his 20th this NHL season.

Ovechkin is second only to Gordie Howe in this indicator – he managed to score 20 goals in 22 seasons. Ovechkin surpassed Ron Francis – he scored 20 goals in 20 seasons during his career.

Ovechkin scored 917 career goals in the NHL regular season (a league record) and 994 including the playoffs. Gretzky’s record for goals in NHL matches, including playoff games, is 1016 goals. Washington has 36 matches left in the regular season.
