NHL. 9 Carolina goals, three East leaders, two hat tricks, title failure
According to matchday results of the NHL regular season, three teams with the same points are leading the East. Tampa Bay, Carolina and Detroit scored 62 points each.
Tampa defeated St. Petersburg in a penalty shootout. Lost to St. Louis, ending their 11-game winning streak, while Carolina defeated defending champion Florida 9:1 with an on-ice hat trick and four points from forward Nikolai Ehlers.
Detroit beat San Jose 4-2 at home as goaltender John Gibson won his fifth straight game.
And in the West, Nashville unexpectedly beat regular-season leader Colorado on the road, 7:3, behind a hat trick from forward Ryan O’Reilly, snapping the Avalanche’s 22-game home streak on points.
