Shipachev scored his 1000th point in the KHL. No one had done this before Vadim.
A truly historic event for the entire KHL was witnessed by the spectators of the Dynamo Minsk – Admiral match. Vadim Shipachev scored an effective performance and finally reached the incredible mark of 1000 points!
Career start
Vadim Shipachev is a graduate of Severstal. As part of his native club, he made his KHL debut in the 2008/09 season, the year the league was founded. The striker played for the Cherepovets team until the 2012/13 season, and then moved to SKA. The segment of his career in St. Petersburg turned out to be very bright for Shipachev and brought him titles.
The 2014/15 season was especially successful, when Vadim played on the same line with Artemy Panarin and Evgeny Dadonov. This attacking trio played extremely effectively and made a huge contribution to winning the first Gagarin Cup in SKA history. And according to the results of that playoffs, Shipachev became the best assistant and shared the first line in the list of the most productive players with Alexander Radulov, who played for CSKA. Two years later, Vadim repeated his success as part of the army team and became a two-time winner of the league’s main trophy.
The forward’s career took off; it is not surprising that he received an offer to move to the NHL. The Russian hockey player signed a contract with Vegas, but things didn’t work out for him overseas. He played only three games for the Golden Knights and then returned to Russia. Yes, it didn’t work out there, but Vadim went to the 2018 Olympics, which became a triumph for our team.
Then Shipachev had four bright seasons at Dynamo Moscow. In the capital’s club, Vadim became part of another super-troika of attack. Thus, Kagarlitsky – Shipachev – Yashkin scored 154 points between them and took seventh place in the list of the most productive combinations in the history of the KHL. At the same time, the first place also went to a Severstal graduate. The trio Gusev – Shipachev – Dadonov scored 211 points.
Then Vadim went to Ak Bars Kazan for two years, and after that he moved to Dynamo Minsk, for which he now plays.
“Club 1000”
As part of the Belarusian club, the Russian rewrote the history of the league several times. The forward took second place in the list of the best snipers in the regular season. Shipachev (273) is only ahead of Sergei Mozyakin (351), who is the leader in this component. But among the most productive hockey players, taking into account the Gagarin Cup, Vadim overtook Mozyakin (928). And the Dynamo leader did this on the ice of his native club!
After this historical event, the striker of the Belarusian club had a new epic goal – to open the “club 1000”. Shipachev probably would have already done this, but on November 30, visiting Admiral, he was injured and returned to the ice only on December 16. And, as Vadim himself admits, this pursuit put a lot of pressure on him.
“I’ve been struggling with this for four months now.” Well, how else can I say it? You see how I get high from this situation. Points are accumulated in an inexplicable way. Each one comes with great difficulty,” Shipachev said in an interview with Match TV.
In the game against CSKA, which took place on January 6, he became the absolute record holder for the number of matches played during the entire existence of the league and the first who managed to reach the mark of 1,100 meetings (taking into account the playoffs and regular season). At the same time, Shipachev scored the 999th scoring point in his career, and soon completed an assist and… the referees canceled the goal, having discerned a skate movement in the actions of his teammate. And it would be symbolic, because Vadim scored his first scoring point in the KHL in the match against the army team.
– Listen, it seemed to me that this was a normal goal. But apparently other guys looked – and they didn’t think it was very good. We cannot influence this. Whatever decision was made, so it is. This means that you need to score a goal that will not be watched,” Shipachev noted in an interview with Match TV.
On January 8, Dynamo went to Cherepovets, and Shipachev got the opportunity to celebrate a grand event on the ice of his native Severstal. However, the forward did not score any points, and the Minsk team lost with a score of 3:4. But in the next meeting Vadim achieved his goal!
On January 12, the Minsk club hosted Admiral at its home arena. For the hosts, the first 40 minutes of the meeting were not the most successful. Dynamo outplayed the opponent in this period (23 shots on target versus 11), but it was the team from Vladivostok that left for the second break with a minimal advantage – 1:0. The author of the only goal scored was Igor Geraskin.
Only at the beginning of the third period was it possible to seal the visitors’ goal, however, after the coach’s request, Yegor Borikov’s goal was canceled. Dmitry Kvartalnov’s team did not give up and equalized in the 57th minute thanks to the efforts of Alex Limoges. And at the end, Admiral received a penalty, which Dynamo converted in just 21 seconds. Shipachev lifted the puck to the blue line, Ty Smith moved it to the right throw-in circle, and Vadim Moroz hit the goal with a one-touch shot 17 seconds before the siren – 2:1. There are 1000 Shipachev points! Vadim worked his way up to this historic event over 1,102 matches, in which he scored 314 goals and completed 686 assists.
The next goal is to reach the 1100 point level!
