US President Donald Trump, during the visit of Florida hockey players to the White House, called Russian goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky a legendary goalkeeper and shook his hand.
Trump hosted Florida players on Thursday in honor of the team’s 2025 Stanley Cup victory. In the final series, the Panthers beat Edmonton (4–2).
“It’s a great honor to welcome this wonderful team to the White House and give them a few compliments – they did a great job.” I watched a few matches, these guys played powerfully. You left Canada without a Stanley Cup again and extended their losing streak. Great people! And legendary goalkeeper Sergei Bobrovsky, also known as Bob. Made multiple shutouts in each of the first three rounds of the playoffs, including a key fourth game against Toronto in the second round. “Phenomenal game, phenomenal hockey,” Trump said.
In the NHL playoffs last season, Bobrovsky played 23 games. Florida won 16 of them. The goaltender won the Stanley Cup twice in his career – in 2024 and 2025.
