Boston retires Zdeno Chara’s number
The NHL club Boston Bruins has retired the number 33 worn by defenseman Zdeno Chara.
The ceremony took place on Thursday before the NHL regular season match against Seattle (4:2).
– It seems unreal. It was a great honor for me to perform in this uniform in front of you. Literally, I was speechless. “It’s one of those things that, no matter how many times you imagine or imagine, when it actually happens, it’s much nicer,” the 48-year-old Slovakian, quoted by the NHL’s official website, said to the fans.
Khara holds the record for the most games played in the NHL regular championship among defensemen (1,680); he ranks seventh in this indicator among outfield players. Jara played 1,023 games for Boston, scored 481 points (148 goals, 333 assists), captained the team for 14 seasons, and won the Norris Trophy, awarded to the best defenseman of the season. In 2011, he won the Stanley Cup with Boston. Khara also played in the NHL for the New York Islanders, Ottawa and Washington.
