Now the 40-year-old Russian shares 18th place in the number of regular season matches played with Shane Down and John Butsik. Brent Burns (1543) is in 17th position.
Ovechkin is the record holder among Russians for this indicator.
The league record holder is ex-San Jose forward Patrick Marleau, who played 1,779 regular season games during his career.
