Ovechkin boycotted Pride Night event in support of LGBT*
Russian Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin boycotted the Pride Night event in support of LGBT* (recognized as an extremist movement in Russia and prohibited) before the home match of the NHL regular season against Florida.
Some Washington players wrapped their sticks in rainbow-colored tape, but Ovechkin came out for pre-match rollout with a regular stick.
The meeting ended with a score of 5:2 in favor of the Panthers. Ovechkin did not show any effective actions.
* The LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.
