Sharipzyanov’s hat-trick helped Avangard beat Traktor in the KHL match

Omsk Avangard defeated Chelyabinsk Traktor in the regular season match of the Fonbet KHL Championship.

The meeting in Chelyabinsk ended with a score of 5:2 (1:1, 3:0, 1:1) in favor of the guests, where Damir Sharipzyanov scored a hat-trick, Maxim Lajoie and Michael MacLeod also scored. Alexander Kadeikin and Andrey Svetlakov scored for Traktor.

Sharipzyanov became the first defenseman in KHL history to score two hat-tricks in championship matches. Previously, the 29-year-old Russian hit the opponent’s goal three times in November 2023 in a game against St. Petersburg SKA (5:3).

Avangard scored 63 points and ranks third in the Eastern Conference standings, Traktor (48) is seventh.

In the next match, the Omsk club will play away from Ufa on January 20 against Salavat Yulaev, and Traktor will host Admiral from Vladivostok on January 24.
