“Why did you go to the toilet, rot?” The heinous antics of a drunken hockey coach

Egor Shastin cursed and threatened to kick the players out of the team. How was he even allowed to work with children?

A loud scandal happened in Russian hockey. Egor Shastin, who was in a state of extreme alcohol intoxication, the coach-assistant of the Omsk Avangard Academy, during a train trip with the team, allowed himself gross insults and threats against his wards, using a lot of profanity.

The club has already responded and launched an investigation. What happened there?

“Speak louder, I can’t hear, I’m drunk”

The usual trip to the games for young talents from the Avangard system turned into a nightmare. Coach Shastin came into the compartment to the hockey players and for no apparent reason began to harshly criticize the players. He didn’t choose his words, to put it mildly. The hockeymans78 telegram channel posted a series of videos showing what happened in the coupe. Here are some statements of the mentor of the academy.

“What did you want, idiot?” What are you, a clown? Why did you go to the toilet, rot? Wash your hands? Tell me, I’ve been in hockey for 20 years. And you are a complete idiot! The end of you and you tomorrow, you will not win against me, I promise you. I will make sure that you do not get into the composition, we will play in two links. What do you miss now, Konovalov? Happiness? And now. Speak louder, I can’t hear, I’m drunk,” said Shastin.

Quick reaction “Vanguard”

It is clear that this is only a small part of what can be published in the media. Most of these videos contained foul language and threats. Since the head of the board of directors of the club, Alexander Krylov, was at that moment in Omsk, the reaction from Avangard followed promptly.

– In connection with the video materials that appeared today on the Internet, the Avangard Hockey Academy launched an internal investigation, during which Yegor Shastin was suspended from coaching at the academy. Based on the results of the investigation, a decision will be made, about which we will inform you additionally, the club said in a statement.

Most likely, the dismissal of the coach will become known in the near future. All employment relationships with a mentor must be terminated. Which, let’s face it, is logical and expected.

The rich career of Shastin and his father

Shastin is a graduate of Avangard, he played for his native club from the late 90s until 2022, after which he left for Switzerland. He also played for Sibir, SKA, Neftekhimik, Torpedo from Nizhny Novgorod, Lada, Swiss Red Ice, Toros and a number of Kazakh clubs. He is the silver medalist and the best sniper of the junior world championship as part of the Russian national team, and with Avangard Egor became the vice-champion of the country.

Interestingly, Shastin’s father Evgeny also played for the Omsk club, and then was the team’s coach, helping Valery Belousov. Moreover, Shastin Sr. is now on the board of directors of Avangard. Despite such a rich history of relationships with the club and family ties, Yegor Shastin still cannot avoid sanctions. Unfortunately, such stories discredit the image not only of Avangard, but of all Russian hockey.
