Finnish journalist Juuni Nieminen ironically commented on the departure of the Washington Capitals from the Stanley Cup.
The day before, Washington lost to Florida in the sixth match of the playoff series (3:4 OT) and dropped out of the fight for the Stanley Cup. The captain of the capital club, Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin, did not score in this match.
– Now Ovechkin can play for Russia at the World Cup! Stop, wait a minute,” Nieminen tweeted.
By decision of the IIHF, the Russian team does not participate in the World Championship that started in Finland.
