Metallurg Magnitogorsk will find money for the contract of Pittsburgh striker Yevgeny Malkin if the hockey player wants to return to the KHL, Sergey Laskov, first vice-president of Magnitogorsk, assured.

The contract of the 35-year-old graduate of Metallurg Malkin with the Penguins expires on July 1, after which the hockey player will become an unrestricted free agent. The Russian has been playing for Pittsburgh since 2006, except for the lockout in the 2012/13 season, when he played for the Magnitogorsk team.

Zhenya himself must decide what he wants. Why dictate rules to him? I think he’s fine. Which KHL club will be able to pay that kind of money? We have rights, but Zhenya did not get in touch with us. If he gets in touch and expresses a desire to return, then we will find money for him, ”Laskov told RIA Novosti Sport.

Pittsburgh lost 3-4 to the New York Rangers in the first round of the Stanley Cup. This season, Malkin played 41 games in the NHL regular season, in which he scored 42 points (20 goals + 22 assists). In 7 playoff matches he has 6 points (3+3).
