“I don’t think Radulov will return to the KHL.” Leading bosses in negotiations with newcomers, legionnaires and Kovalchuk

On May 13, in Omsk, the meeting of the board of directors of Avangard held a meeting where the results of the last season were collected and plans for the next year were formulated. After the results, the chairman of the club board met with the journalists Alexander Krilov and the general manager of the Omsk team Alexey Volkov.

About the Avant-garde Academy and youth

Alexander Krilov:

— Today was the second part of the board, the first was before the holiday to summarize the results of the season. Today we looked at the Academy, the development of children’s hockey in Omsk. We focused on the system we have been implementing for four years. We finally approved the concept of the development of the academy. He will be the director of the academy Evgeny Hatsey.

Fewer visitors, more Omsk members – that’s what we want to strive for at the Avant-garde Academy. Now 50 to 50. We want to strive to be 75% domestic and 25% foreign. The work plan for this project has been approved.

An open letter from the families of the hockey players of the Avant-garde Academy? I saw this letter today, now it is not worth commenting on something. According to the results of the first attempt: the letter concerns older children. Parents will always see their children as the most talented, and Gretzky will grow out of them.

13 students on a team? I have always said that this figure is not a panacea. Now our first collection will be on July 15th. Let’s count. Mishurov, Denisevich, Davydov, Sokolov, Serdyuk, Trikozov, Alkhimov, Astavshevsky, Kholodil, Chistyakov, Gritsyuk. Plus, the departed Chinakhov, Eronko (deputy general director of Avangard – Sport24) relied on him. Plus Miroshnichenko, but then God decided. Ivan is undergoing treatment. All guys will have a chance to play in the KHL. Without the VHL team, they certainly wouldn’t have had a chance.

About negotiations with newcomers

Alexei Volkov:

– Yesterday I read a comment by a journalist describing my concept of “not overpaying”. Every rule has exceptions, we are ready to pay extra to Siberia for those who deserve it. I am ready to move away from my principles, they have always been flexible.

We are meeting with Damir Zhafyarov. We talked to Nikita Mikhailis’ manager. He has a mission to perform successfully at the World Championships and receive offers from across the ocean.

Klim Kostin is currently playing in the AHL playoffs. We will contact him as soon as he finishes his participation in the playoffs. He was also offered a contract, we will continue our dialogue, the rights of Klim from Avangard. We trust him.

About the situation with the legionnaires

Alexei Volkov:

“Caski and Pokka were supposed to pay compensation but we deducted that amount from bonuses. They don’t owe us anything, but Avangard has the players’ rights. I have no intention of cooperating with the Finnish and Swedish players after their statements. We want to consider the candidacy of Dmitry Yashkin, but his representatives did not contact us.

The knight is a bright and whole person. He said that if he wanted to come to Russia, he would consider Avangard’s offer above all else. It’s about a group of Bush-Knights, club leaders who want to get them talking more.

We are in contact with Grubets. Currently I have no information about his decision, he has a valid contract with Avangard.

Alexander Krilov:

– We certainly won’t be waiting a year for Grubets as Traktor has frozen the legionnaires’ contracts. Either he breaks the contract and pays compensation or he will play for Avangard. Some decisions regarding transfer cards will be made after the World Cup. It would be disastrous for us if foreigners were allowed to go without paying anything, as in football.

About Semenov’s words that the player did not see the interest of the club

Alexei Volkov:

– I was surprised at such a formulation of the question of Cyril. He was offered a two-year contract last year. We thought that Kirill would like to move to Omsk with the team, he is our student. We were surprised that he went to Toronto. We’ve worked so hard to bring him back, we’ve done so much to bring him back. At that time, he was offered a two-year deal with a good salary. Kirill himself said that he wanted to sign a contract before the end of the season, he wanted to keep in touch with a manager, so we did. I know there are some family issues related to returning to Omsk. We respect your choice. No need to invent conspiracy theories, Cyril’s words were surprising to me.

About Radulov and Kovalchuk

Alexei Volkov:

– I do not think that Radulov will return to the KHL. We are in close contact with him. The last time we spoke to him was before Christmas. A bad season does not speak of him as a bad hockey player. Above all, I am sure that he will consider offers from NHL clubs. We have no goal of returning Kovalchuk in any role.
