Former Minnesota NHL player Chris Foucault saved a child while on vacation in the Bahamas.
The incident occurred on May 10 in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas. The hockey player heard cries for help during a family dinner. They came from the beach. The Canadian jumped into the water when he learned that a little girl was drowning. In the water, he saw the immobilized body of a 6-year-old child. Another man swam nearby and helped Foucault pull the child out of the water. On the shore, the men handed the girl to the rescuer, who was able to resuscitate the victim. After that, the girl was taken to the hospital.
“As hockey players, we have to stay in great shape. As for me, I’m kind of an older player. I am already 31 years old. Keeping fit and being able to swim help you to continue your career. I am grateful to my coaches for preparing me for hockey and other situations. This is the team aspect of hockey. If your teammate is in trouble, you try to help. Someone was in trouble on the beach, and I thought I could help,” Foucault quoted the official NHL website as saying.
Foucault was selected by the Minnesota Wild in the fourth round in the 2009 draft. In the NHL, he played one game in the 2011/12 season. From 2010 to 2014, he took part in 58 AHL matches. After that, he left for Europe. For the last six years, the Canadian has been performing in Germany.
