Andrei Nikolishin is one of the most respected players in our hockey history. As the former Washington and Tractor forward, Batya was called up by his teammates, had great respect from his partners, and was an absolute leader in all the teams he played for. Nikolishin’s associates have repeatedly noted his leadership qualities, as the aggressor stood up for his comrades and did not tolerate dishonorable acts on the ice in relation to them. But one day, a heightened sense of justice and self-esteem brought the current Chicago scout almost to the dock.
Everything happened in 2006. On Friday evening, Andrei went out of town with his family. There was a huge traffic jam on the road, so the famous hockey player had to run between the rows to shorten his travel time. During one of the remakes, the striker, who at that time played for Avangard Omsk, was stopped by a traffic policeman.
“The flow of cars has long gone and there’s a traffic light ahead and they say I’m going to cross it and hug the side of the road. I couldn’t bear it, I answeredsaid Andrew.
After a short fight, Nikolishin and the police moved towards the checkpoint. And also, according to the hockey player, the traffic police flew towards him and hit him insidiously – the striker of the Omsk club did not see the moment of impact. As a result, fracture of the jaw that had to be operated on in America.
“Most importantly, I was instantly handcuffed to a fence outside the checkpoint. And 15 minutes later that traffic cop comes out and says, “Why didn’t you say it was Nikolishin?” He says. Of course, I sued. The doctors removed all the beatings, the investigation began. The big bosses came to ask for him. But I completely strayed from the principle. And in court he immediately said: “I have no major claim. But a man in uniform has no right to act like that.” He was given three years. True, conditionally – the court took into account that he has two minor children “said Nikolishin.
For the hockey player, this was not the first problem behind the wheel. Once the world champion was in a serious accident through his own fault. Andrei was leaving the gas station and began to turn around, but did not notice a car coming towards him:
“It saved the driver’s reaction. He narrowly avoided a head-on collision by turning the steering wheel at the last second. Hit me from the side. Both he and the child sleeping in the back seat survived. I escaped easily.”
Andrei in December 1995 was also very lucky. In those years, he played in Moscow Dynamo under the leadership of Vladimir Golubovich. On the eve of the match with Khimik, the coach announced that the returning players during the lockout period, Igor Korolev, Alexander Karpovtsev and the hero of this text will not take part in the match. After training, the three hockey players listed above went home, and only then it was reported that the bus with the team, which could theoretically include Nikolishin, returned to the rink. Fortunately, none of the blue-and-white players were seriously injured.
