The father of the Swiss national hockey team Kurashev explained why his son does not play for the Russian team

Konstantin Kurashev, father of Swiss national hockey team striker Philip Kurashev, said that the striker was waiting for an offer from the Russian national team.

The Swiss national team at the 2022 World Cup leads Group A with 18 points. Kurashev scored one goal and gave three assists.

– I do not lead an active life on the net, but some links about Philip still come. They write: “Why did you leave?” or “Why he plays for Switzerland and not for Russia.” Well, that’s how life is, you know? Philip was born in Switzerland. I was waiting for an offer from Russia, but it did not work out. And, having received an offer from the Swiss national team, he agreed to play for the national team of this country. Because he dreams of playing at the highest level – at the World Championships and the Olympic Games.

Again, I’m not monitoring the network. But when I met people, the attitude was positive, there was no hatred towards us. Philip wanted to play with the Russian national team, because Russian hockey stars have always been his idols.
