“You suck even without Russia!” Canadians massacred after historic World Cup embarrassment

Canadian fans demand to send hockey players home so as not to see them suffer at the World Cup.

The performance of the Canadian team at the current World Hockey Championship unpleasantly surprises both experts and ordinary Maple Leaf fans. For the first time in a long time, a team may not make it to the playoffs due to unexpected losses to not the strongest teams.

The real fury among the fans was caused by the historic defeat of the team from Canada in the group stage match against Denmark.

Is it worth explaining why in the homeland of hockey they are not ready to forgive this embarrassment?

On the brink of elimination

The Canadian team traditionally brings not the strongest hockey players to the World Championship. Not all free players from the NHL are eager to play in the national team at this tournament. Someone is preparing to sign a new contract, someone is recovering after a difficult season, and someone is simply not interested in the world championship.

But even this circumstance did not prevent Claude Julien from gathering a very combat-ready team. Almost all the players who came to Finland have serious experience of playing in the NHL.

The Danes, on the other hand, cannot even come close to boasting such an abundance of quality hockey players. The European squad includes one and a half players from the NHL. Nikolay Ehlers, who plays for the Jets, is the main star of the national team. There is also forward Joachim Blichveld, but he was only occasionally involved in San Jose games. The remaining names of Danish hockey players are practically unknown to the hockey community.

It is logical that before this game the experts preferred the Canadians. But the meeting took place in a completely different scenario. The Danes for the first time in their history beat rivals from the country of maple leaves. The game ended with the score 3:2. This defeat was the second in a row for the North Americans. Earlier, the team from North America lost to Switzerland.

As a result of the latest setbacks, the Maple Team still have chances to go on vacation after the group stage before the last round. If they lose to France, then in certain scenarios they may be outside the top four in their group.

Such an outcome seems unlikely, but now a quarter-final elimination from the Finns or the Swedes is more than real.

“Please don’t be humiliated against France”

It is logical that the failed games of the Canadian team caused a flurry of criticism from North American fans. Fans thoroughly walked through the possible reasons for the failure of the “maple leaves” in this world championship.

Every time the same excuses. Do you think other teams like Sweden and Finland have better players? No, — said the user with the nickname @leppanematias

“As a true fan of Canadian hockey, I can honestly say that this is one of the worst teams, not in terms of talent, but in terms of dedication and character,” the fan with the nickname @shawnf416 expressed disappointment.

– This is the biggest disappointment: arrogance, lack of passion, lack of dedication. If you don’t want to play in this tournament, just fly home,” user @MrBark5 wrote on the Canadian national team’s social networks.

After the defeat from the Danes, there were just enough angry comments about the hockey team from the fans, who were frankly disappointed in the team.

We are officially no longer a hockey country. It’s time to switch to football,” a fan with the nickname @braedenworden_ emotionally reacted to the defeat.

— Once upon a time Canada was the best, but now it doesn’t even beat third-rate countries, it’s a shame somehow, — the user @avandalnamed described the team’s level of play at this tournament.

– Just ashamed of such results. After this disaster, everyone should take a good look in the mirror! — said fan @jimcassidy1455.

“We lost to Switzerland and Denmark in the same tournament, I never thought that I would ever see it,” the user @drew_latin expressed his dissatisfaction with the anti-record of the Canadian team.

– You suck even without Russia! — said the fan with the nickname @wellbrother777.

“Please do without humiliation in the match with France,” the user with the nickname @nicokmp13 asked the team not to embarrass himself.

In the decisive match, the Canadian team will meet with France, which does not shine in this tournament. The Maple Leafs need to win so they don’t depend on the outcome of other matches. And in order not to receive a new portion of destroying comments in your address.
