This has not been the case for 73 years. So, regarding hockey, it never happened: the Canadian team sensationally lost to the Danish team in the World Cup match.

In 2003, Denmark led the Canadians 2-1 in the second period, but had to settle for a 2-2 draw. On Monday, the Danes did their job confidently and managed to increase their advantage to 3:1 with a majority goal in the middle of the third quarter. In conclusion – a historic victory (3:2).

These teams met for the first time at the World Cup in 1949, and then the score was discouraging, but in a completely different favor – Canada won 47: 0, the largest score in the history of the conflict between these teams. Then 11 members of the Canadian team (there were too many field hockey players at the time) scored at least one hat-trick, and Jim Russell was the author of eight goals.

No such thing happened. The Danes played excellent defense, blocking shots and filling their quarters with maximum effort. And when necessary, the keeper saved the Vikings. Sebastian Dam. At the end of the meeting, Canada staged a real attack, which became a hymn to the defensive resistance of the Danish hockey players.

“This victory means a lot. Few believed we could do it, but we were full of confidence. We know what we can do. It’s amazing. That’s why I love playing for Denmark and when they invite me I always say yes. It’s a very special team. We try, “We play with the best teams and we always have a chance to win. That’s great.”said the attacker. Nikolai Ehlers.

This was the second consecutive defeat for the Canadian team. They lost 3-6 to Switzerland in the final round, and a victory over the Danes left Canada with a chance for first place in the group and a potential quarterfinal against the USA. Now his chance to take first place in the Maple Leaves group has been missed, and the Danes have significantly increased their playoff chances.

“We played sloppy, especially in the beginning. We gave the opponent a chance, we didn’t play disciplined enough. Denmark also took advantage of the opportunities and scored.”– Canadian striker agreed ryan tomb.

The Danes are currently in third place in Group A with 12 points after six games. In the final meeting of the group stage, Denmark will play against Slovakia. Canada is fourth, closing the cup zone and the final match of the group stage will be played against France.
