The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in the 2023 World Championship.
This decision was made at the congress of the organization.
Earlier, the IIHF did not allow the national teams of Russia and Belarus to take part in the current World Championship in Finland.
The IIHF announced in April that Russia was denied the right to host the 2023 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in St. Petersburg. The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (FHR) said it would appeal the decision.
Earlier, at the IIHF Congress, it was decided that the world championship in 2023 will be hosted by Finland and Latvia.
