FHR does not agree with the IIHF decision to freeze the participation of the Russian team in the 2023 World Cup – statement
The Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RHF) has stated that it does not agree with the decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to remove the national team from participation in the 2023 World Championship.
On Friday, the IIHF Congress, held in Finnish Tampere, decided to remove the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participating in the world championship next year.
– The FHR does not agree with the decision to freeze the participation of the Russian national team in the 2023 World Championship, adopted by the international federation at the semi-annual congress, since there are no legal grounds for it.
The FHR notes that applications previously submitted to the IIHF Disciplinary Committee to challenge Russia’s non-participation in international tournaments and return the rights to host the 2023 and 2023 World Championships will be considered only on June 15. All FHR comments regarding IIHF decisions will follow the decisions of the disciplinary committee, the statement said.
