The decision of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) to remove the national teams of Russia and Belarus from participation in the 2023 World Championship was expected, in the current situation one could hardly count on a different outcome, says world champion, ex-forward of Avangard Maxim Sushinsky.
On Friday, the IIHF announced that the Russian and Belarusian teams will not be allowed to participate in the 2023 World Cup.
— What did you want? Did you expect a different solution? We both make decisions and cancel them. As long as there is such a difficult situation, I don’t think we should expect any other steps, ”Championship” quotes Sushinsky.
The world championship next year was to be held in St. Petersburg, due to the situation in Ukraine, the tournament was moved to Finland and Latvia.
