Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova criticized the decision to remove the Russian national ice hockey team from the 2023 World Championship.
– Mayhem! These gangsters are taking careers away from our athletes, they should be held accountable for such bestial decisions towards hockey players. When will Russian athletes return to big sport? I’m even afraid to imagine that everyone is against us,” Tarasova told Sport24.
Russian and Belarusian teams were suspended from international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.
The 2023 World Championship was supposed to be held in St. Petersburg, but the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) deprived Russia of the right to host the tournament. The 2023 World Cup will be held in Tampere (Finland) and Riga.
