Draisaitl beats Gretzky to break NHL record for most assists in a single playoff series

Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl provided four assists in Game 5 of the NHL Western Conference semifinals against the Calgary Flames. The Oilers triumphed in overtime (5:4) and won the series 4-1.

During the entire series with the Flames, Draisaitl had 15 assists. As reported on the StatsCentre Twitter page, this is a new NHL record for most assists in a single playoff series. The previous success (14 assists) in 1983 was marked by Boston Bruins forward Rick Middleton and was repeated 2 years later by Wayne Gretzky, who played for Edmonton.
