Boston NHL head coach Bruce Cassidy has been fired from his post.

The specialist has been working in the team structure since 2008, he has been the head coach since 2017.

– I told Bruce that I had decided to change the head coach. After 14 years of working together, it was very difficult to make such a decision. I would like to thank Cassidy for the work done, but I think that our team will benefit from such a decision,” Boston general manager Don Sweeney said.

This season, Boston finished sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, but lost to Carolina in the first round of the playoffs (3-4).

Boston’s best result under Cassidy was reaching the Stanley Cup Finals in 2019, in which the Bruins lost to St. Louis (3-4).
